Christmas Road Trip
Colin and Tracey did a fabulous job hosting the December event last weekend. A special thanks to Colin for his "high hand" rule, which likely contributed to the loose play. Although face cards seemed to avoid the board at all costs, we saw 3 different 4 of a kinds during the night.
Although I ended up winning, I have to admit that I got pretty lucky against Deb. With 2 aces appearing on the flop, I held a low flush draw. There was quite a bit in the pot already, so I attempted to bully Deb out of the hand. I thought it unlikely that she held an ace, but I had my flush draw as a back up. Unfortunately for me, she had the third ace, but I rivered my flush, knocking Deb out in 8th place.
Welcome to Colin's friend, Dave T. who finished 2nd. We hope to see you again.
Over the Christmas break, Julie and I will resolve the remainder of this years schedule. Until then, have a happy holidays.

Loss
Although this is not new news for anyone in pokerknights, it must be noted:
This month we mourn the loss of one of our own, Keith Lesperance. Keith lost his battle with cancer this month and passed from this world, surround by his loving family. His presence and friendship will be missed by everyone. We continue to pray for his family during these difficult times.
Keith was able to attend Septembers game, where he finished fourth.
----
This month, for the first time, we will be taking PK on the road. Colin and Tracey will be hosting this months bounty tournament. Above all else, this is excellent time to come together for fellowship and mutual support.
Directions will be through the grapevine.

Season 5 is underway
Susie is a MACHINE! One event in to the year, and I am declaring her the player to beat. Sure she won one tournament right out of the gate, but she is so consistently strong, all hopefuls and wannabes are in big trouble.
Next month is the rebuy so bring loonies and toonies.

Get ready for the MAIN EVENT
This month's game was a lot of fun. Amy, after so many seasons of early exits won her second tournament of the year. Going into the Main Event, just about anyone in the top 5 has a shot of taking down Player of the Year.
The Main Event is on June 5th. It will start at 1:00 pm, so please arrive around 12:30. The buy-in is $10 and the format is deep stack.
If you would like to bring a pot luck item, like a salad, just contact Julie or Rob to let us know.
We will ply down to the final table, final 6 or 6:00 pm, what ever makes sense for the dinner break timing.
We will also be giving awards for Bubble Boy (or Girl), Best Hand, Bad Beat, and of course the Player of the Year.
See you in a couple of weeks.

Omaha
Hi all,
This coming month we will be playing NL Omaha. Now, Omaha is not generally played as a no limit game, but learning the structure is enough without learning a new betting system. Anyhow, the things to remember about Omaha...
-Just like Hold'em except you get 4 cards
-you must use EXACTLY 2 to make your best 5 card hand (no more, no less).
That is it.
Here are a some videos as a primer...

All caught up
Okay, everything on this page is up to date. The date for April has been moved to the 16th. I don't know if we will be around on the 9th, so I sure hope you don't show op them ;)
This coming month is OMAHA HIGH.
We will play it like No limit Hold'em, but...
-each person gets 4 cards
and (this is HUGE)
-You must play EXACTLY 2 CARDS in your hand.
So, if the board show KKKK7, NOBODY has 4 of kind Kings.
If you have a chance, you can practice Omaha High online for playmoney at Pokerstars.net or Fulltiltpoker.net. If you download the software from the .net site it is playmoney only. These are the most reputable names in the industry and I have been playing on them for 6 years.
See you on the 16th.
